5Movie Review for Parents
I thought this was an interesting site for parents to be aware of and use if they had concerns about movies their children watch. Another site I found that was a surprise was Screen Junkies.com ( http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/genres-movies/family-friendly/horton-hears-a-who-quotes-that-you-cant-say-5-times-fast/)…. an unfortunate occurrence with many children’s stories is the sidebar references and advertisements that are very adult in content. Parents need to be aware of these possibilities as their children search the web for their favorite characters. Facebook also offers many sites to review and discuss "Horton Hears a Who", I elected not to include a link for security to my own pages.

6Ebooks and Apps - The commercial side of the story - What children might experience after exposure to the Seuss characters and s
After falling in love with the character of Horton, children can explore this faithful story using 21st technology in the form of ebooks and apps for iPhone or iPad. (I thought it was interesting that a popular Ebooks site offering free downloads was no longer available: link doesn’t work anymore and site has been shut down….will this be a trend as sites find they can not compete in the "free" market???)

There are numerous sites and stores that offer children stuffed animals, games, clothes, T-shirts, hats, sticker books, and toys featuring Horton. This commercialism of Seuss’ character can be found on almost every site that sells the movie or print books through merchandizing to encourage children to add these items to their "wish lists". 11Teacher lessons/You Tube-Bright Hub Education - lesson/unit plans
As children enter school many lesson plans are available to teachers using the familiar characters Dr. Seuss created. Teacher lessons/You Tube/Teacher Tube - one of the categories of sites that impressed me the most during this project were the sites created by teachers and students using Horton and other Seuss characters. The blending of a familiar character with a variety of Web 2.0 tools and reading group strategies was wonderful to discovery. I like that teachers are using familiar characters to experiment with engaging formats of instruction for their students.

17Adult info - Other uses for Horton story. -Spirituality Practice
I was amazed how the story of Horton has inspired individuals to convey a message based on the time honored story created by Dr. Seuss. The follow sites are examples of integrating a child’s story into a message directed to a general audience. Perhaps as children grow and become parents themselves this type of connection is appealing for them because of their own history with the characters from Dr. Seuss’ story Horton Hears a Who...????

23Author’s perspective - Dr. Seuss the political commentator?
As an adult, I was most interested in the reasons Theodor Seuss Geisel created timeless stories that deal with basic human dilemmas. After reading about this author I was intrigued by his ability to write/draw what he felt were important statements about his time in the format of children’s books. Some of the best stories ever written have many layers of details that we grasp as a reader as we develop and gain life experience. How talented an author must be to see so many layers of their story as they create characters and storylines! I thought it was fitting that there is a memorial in Springfield, MA, dedicated to the memory of this amazing story teller.
