1Sorority Step Teams
Fraternities and sororities from all across the United States have colors and certain sayings that represent their teams. The step teams most people around the nation know are the Delta Sigma Theta, Alpha Kappa Alpha and Zeta Tau Alpha. Sororities step teams usually perform at a big step show. The teams battle on a stage to prove to a group of judges that they are the best. The sorority I would like to to join is Delta Sigma Theta. Their colors are red and white. I don't know if I want to be on their step team because their color happens to be my favorite color. Or maybe its because I saw them step on T.V once. Whatever the case may be, I know I will enjoy being part of their step team.

2The First Sorority Step Team
Amazing! The sorority Delta Sigma Theta, was founded on January 13, 1913. The sorority is 99 years old. They are known to be the largest African-American Greek-lettered sorority in the world. Any woman may join the step team or the sorority. But, as long as they meet the requirements. More and more women join the sorority and the step team every year. The Delta Sigma Theta is not just located in the United States, but also in England and Japan. I would love to be able to travel around the world, to see my other sisters from Delta Sigma Theta.

3The Founders
Delta Sigma Theta was founded by two women at Howard University. On March 13, 1913, these two women took part and marched at the women's suffrage in Washington D.C. I think what these two women did was great. They helped promote education and provide for people in need. They never gave up to help their community, Delta Sigma Theta was incorporated in 1930. They made history!

4The Different Sorority Step Teams
This page gave me a different outlook on sorority step teams. Not all step teams are all African-American. Any race can step. It doesn't matter what you look like. All that matters is that you work hard at stepping. When you watch the videos on this site, you will be amazed. All the teams work hard to be together. There not all female step teams. There are also all male teams and co-ed teams. No matter what gender or race you are, anyone can step. Just have fun with it.

5Knowing How to Step
You don't have to be a professional, but you have to practice. Everyone learns at a different pace, so take your time. Focus on rhythm. Being on a step team is kinda like being a on dance team. You need to practice rhythm. When you step, the beats you make will keep the keep together. If you never stepped before, trying practicing clapping and slapping your hands on your thighs, arms and chest and also stomping your feet. That is what all step teams do. They also yell out chants. Most of all, have fun wit it. Add your own style to a step. It always pumps up the crowd.
